Recently, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo made an unannounced visit to the Jerome Udoji State Secretariat Complex in Awka. The Anambra State Government through the visit sent a clear and firm message: punctuality and regular attendance are non-negotiable. Reporting to work on time is not merely about obeying rules—it reflects respect for the people and a commitment to public service. Every minute matters, and lateness or absenteeism will no longer be tolerated.

However, simply being present at work is not enough. Public servants are expected to remain focused, diligent, and productive throughout their working hours. This involves meeting deadlines, performing assigned duties efficiently, and delivering quality services to the citizens. The time has come to move away from mediocrity and embrace a culture built on excellence and results.

There is now greater scrutiny from both the government and the public in Anambra State. Citizens expect results, and public servants must rise to the occasion by being proactive, innovative, and solution-driven. It is no longer acceptable to do the bare minimum; going above and beyond should become the new standard in service delivery.

Equally important is the dignity of labour. Every role within the public service structure matters and contributes to the overall development of the state. Public servants must take pride in their duties, uphold transparency in their actions, and demonstrate integrity in all dealings.

When work is done with honour and accountability, public trust is strengthened, and the image of government institutions is elevated.
The message is clear, and the moment is decisive.

The responsibility now rests with every public servant to rise to these expectations with renewed passion, dedication, and a genuine spirit of service. Anambra State is on a path of transformation, and its workforce must reflect that vision. The people deserve not just service, but excellence—consistent, visible, and enduring.
