The wife of the Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mrs. Okwuchukwu Ozumba, has advised pupils of Ozalla Primary School, Ifitedunu, to cultivate the habit of engaging in physical exercises and reading their books regularly for their overall wellbeing and academic development.
Mrs. Ozumba gave the advice during a visit to the school where she presented branded polo shirts to pupils who are members of the school’s “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” club.
The polo shirts bore the inscription, “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo,” an initiative founded by the wife of the governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, to promote healthy living, physical fitness and mental wellness among residents of the state.
Addressing the pupils, Mrs. Ozumba encouraged them to remain active physically while also taking their studies seriously.
“It is not only physical exercises that you should do. You should also read your books to become knowledgeable people,” she said.
She noted that Ozalla Primary School, Ifitedunu, is the only school in the area with a “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” club, adding that the visit and donation of polo shirts were meant to encourage the pupils to remain committed members of the club.
Earlier, a pupil of the school, Sophia Iheohakara, delivered a captivating welcome address that thrilled guests and other attendees at the event.
As part of the activities, members of the school’s “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” club participated in a 100-metre race to demonstrate the physical fitness skills they had acquired through the club’s exercise sessions.
Nzube Mukwugwo emerged winner of the race, while Atansi Chiemelie and Osinachi Chidiebube came second and third respectively.
The winners received rewards from Mrs. Ozumba, who also donated the sum of one hundred thousand naira to the school’s “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” club.
Impressed by Sophia Iheohakara’s outstanding presentation during the welcome address, Mrs. Ozumba further pledged to sponsor the Soophia’s education for the remainder of her years at Ozalla Primary School.
In addition, one of the members of the “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” team who accompanied Mrs. Ozumba to the event promised to provide Sophia with a school bag, exercise books, instructional materials and other educational items to encourage her studies.
In his vote of thanks, the founder of the “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” club at Ozalla Primary School, Ifitedunu, Amb. Solomon Nwankwo, expressed appreciation to Mrs. Ozumba for the visit and support.
“We are very happy that you came to our school and gave us polo shirts and money. It will encourage us to continue participating in the ‘Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo’ club at Ozalla Primary School, Ifitedunu,” he said.
He also commended the developmental efforts of the Dunukofia mayor and his wife, praying God to reward them for their good works.
