Residents of Igbo‑Ukwu gathered on Thursday, May 21, to witness the unveiling of a new community library built by the Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Oforbuike.
The library was constructed and fully equipped with modern learning materials and facilities to support students, researchers, and general readers within Igbo‑Ukwu and neighboring communities. The project is part of the local government’s broader efforts to improve access to quality education and better prepare young people for a brighter future.

Dr. Oforbuike said education remains one of the top priorities of his administration. “We consider education the topmost priority in Aguata, and this interest conditions our interventions in the area of education and youth development,” he stated.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, officially unveiled the library and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at improving learning opportunities for young people. Special recognition was given to Hon. Aguncha Nnamdi, Councillor representing Igbo‑Ukwu Ward 1, for his dedication and commitment throughout the execution of the project.

The event was attended by students from various schools in Igbo‑Ukwu, community leaders, and well‑wishers who came to celebrate the milestone and support the vision for educational development in the community.
