The Anambra State Head of Service, Barr. Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, has directed all civil servants to fully participate in the 2026 Workers’ Day Celebration scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026, at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
The directive was issued via a circular from her office at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka, on April 28, 2026, in response to an invitation from Organized Labour.

The Head of Service described May Day as an internationally recognized occasion that commemorates the dignity of labour, acknowledges workers’ contributions to national development, and advances the protection of workers’ rights and welfare. She consequently enjoined all civil servants to attend the celebration en masse.
Barr. Iwouno further urged workers to maintain decorum, appear in appropriate attire, and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the values and integrity of the Anambra State Public Service.
She directed all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments to ensure the widest dissemination of the circular.
