A former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Kingsley Chukwuma Iruba, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.

Iruba made the declaration during an interactive session with members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nnewi South Local Government Area, held at Azigbo Town Hall on April 19.

Addressing party faithful, Iruba outlined his political philosophy, anchored on what he described as four cardinal principles—equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and compassion.

“My leadership is rooted in empathy and respect for human rights. These are the values that will guide my representation,” he said.

He also stressed the need for political balance within the constituency, stating that it was the turn of Nnewi South to produce the next representative at the federal level.

Iruba urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and expand APGA’s membership base ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“We must strengthen our structures and bring more people into the party if we are to achieve our collective goal,” he added.

Reflecting on his previous tenure in the State Assembly, Iruba said his representation impacted all wards, assuring constituents of improved performance if elected to the National Assembly.

A stakeholder in Azigbo, Mr. Chikwado Ifediba, described Iruba as a capable and experienced leader with the capacity to deliver effective representation.

“His track record speaks for him. He has the competence and the understanding needed to move our constituency forward,” Ifediba said.

The meeting was attended by key party stakeholders, including local government working committee members led by Chairman Hon. Azubuike Osuchukwu, ward executives, youth leaders, councillors, and former members of the State Assembly.

The event is seen as part of early political engagements ahead of the 2027 elections, as aspirants begin consultations and mobilisation across the constituency.
