The Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Hon. Oluchukwu John Ilogbenu , has reaffirmed his commitment to environmental sanitation, security, infrastructure and economic empowerment.
He stated this during an interview with Information Officers, where he outlined his administration’s achievements, ongoing interventions and development priorities under the Idemili South Rising vision.
Addressing environmental concerns, Ilogbenu disclosed that his administration established the Idemili South Environmental Emergency Action Committee, chaired by Comr. Iyk Obasanya, to coordinate efforts against flooding and indiscriminate waste disposal.
He said waste evacuation had commenced in affected communities, with refuse cleared along Alor–Nnobi Road and at Eke Nnokwa Market, while work continued in Ojoto.
The Mayor added that the Amadunu erosion challenge at Ebenesi Nnobi had been escalated to the State Government for technical assessment and necessary intervention.
Speaking on his first 100 days, Ilogbenu listed completed infrastructure and Primary Health Centre assessments, ongoing revenue mapping, an upcoming school assessment and a planned Security Stakeholders Summit.
On women and youth empowerment, he promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor, Iyom Amaka Obi, through vocational training, digital skills, agro-processing and a Technology and Skills Innovation Hub.
He also highlighted plans for a youth farm estate, cooperative support, business clinics, improved markets and stronger security partnerships, including solar streetlights and community intelligence initiatives.
The Mayor urged residents to maintain environmental cleanliness, report problems and participate actively in community development, assuring them that his administration would be judged by measurable results, not promises.
