The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has issued a stern warning to street traders, hawkers and commercial operators trading under the Aroma Flyover in Awka to vacate the area immediately.

In a public notice released on October 26, the Authority said evening trading activities under the flyover have become a major concern, as traders display and sell goods on roadways meant strictly for vehicular and pedestrian movement.

According to ACTDA, the illegal trading obstructs free flow of traffic, poses serious risk to public safety, and undermines the orderly development of the capital city.

The Authority warned that any trader who fails to comply with the directive risks having their goods seized by enforcement officers in line with extant regulations.

It, therefore, advised all affected traders to relocate to designated market areas to avoid enforcement action.

ACTDA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, orderly and well-organized Awka Capital Territory, urging residents to support its efforts to keep roads clear and Awka moving.
