The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to distribute 5720 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System t(BVAS), ahead of the 2027 presidential election stating the commission readiness for a hitch free, fair and credible 2027 election in Anambra State

This was stated by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Anambra State, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, on October 9, during a stakeholders engagement meeting.held at the state headquarters, Awka.

According to her, INEC had deployed 5,720 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines to cover the state’s 5,720 polling units, adding that about 22,280 adhoc staff would be deployed for the exercise.

We have been able to procure about 5,720 BVAS. About 22,280 adhoc staff would be deployed. We have done an infrastructural audit to ensure the smoothness of the 2027 polls.

She however called on all citizens who registered during the continuous voters registration from January to July to go to the commission’s headquarters or designated centers for the display of claims , verification, objection and correction exercise.

According to her, the exercise offers room for voters to check information given previously if it is correct in the register and if not, they can give the appropriate information and it would be corrected when sent back to the commission . There would be room for correction of errors identified

“The exercise is for correction of information previously given, but wrongly captured. This gives the opportunity to correct it at the register and it would be sent back to the commission to effect any changes where necessary”she added.

For a better working environment, the REC stated that a structural development is ongoing at the commission as they had begun relocating its offices situated within local government secretariats in Anambra State and across the country to new locations as part of measures to curb electoral malpractice.

“All the LGA mayors should go around to sensitize people and create awareness at the grassroots in their councils, encouraging them to go out en masse to vote for candidates of their choice,”

While Urging political parties and their candidates ensure they planned and well, conduct themselves with decorum and to embark on their campaigns with messages and realistic promises..
