The Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Oluchukwu Ilogbenu, has visited the erosion and flooding site at Amadunu Village, Ebenesi Nnobi, to assess the growing threat to lives and homes.
Expressing concern over the plight of affected residents, the Mayor sympathized with the community and stressed the need for urgent, coordinated action to prevent further damage.

He was accompanied by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Elochukwu Obiefuna, and other members of his team. They were received by Mr. Wilfred Ikechukwu Onyiagha and other community stakeholders, who briefed the delegation on the worsening situation.

According to Mr. Onyiagha, the issue has reportedly intensified following changes in the flow of floodwater from Adazi, Nnokwa and other neighbouring communities from the ongoing road dualization. He disclosed that the advancing erosion now poses a serious threat to his residence and other homes in the area.
In response, Mayor Ilogbenu pledged to escalate the community’s concerns to the Anambra State Government for the necessary technical assessment and intervention. He noted that the scale of the challenge requires collaboration among the Local Government, relevant state authorities and other agencies to secure a lasting solution.
The Mayor reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the safety and wellbeing of residents, emphasising the importance of timely intervention to protect lives, preserve property and prevent further deterioration.
The visit underscores the Idemili South Local Government’s commitment to grassroots engagement and constructive collaboration in addressing pressing community challenges.
