Stakeholders, women groups, friends and well-wishers in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State have honoured the outgoing Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi (Iyom Ife-Abata), with gifts including a car, a cow, a refrigerator, wrappers and portraits as she bowed out of office.
The farewell ceremony, which was held in an atmosphere of celebration and emotion, attracted stakeholders from across the council area who gathered to appreciate Obi for her service during her tenure.

The gifts, described as a token of gratitude, were presented as a mark of appreciation for her leadership, support and relationship with the people during her time in office.
The women groups added a personal touch to the event with their presentation, reflecting what attendees described as a close bond with the outgoing mayor.

Responding, Hon. Obi, who was visibly moved by the gesture, expressed appreciation to the stakeholders, women and the entire people of Idemili South for their support and cooperation throughout her tenure.
The event also marked the transition to a new administration as Hon. Oluchukwu Ilogbenu (Olutek) takes over as the new Mayor of Idemili South.
Attendees noted that the colourful send-off underscored the goodwill Obi enjoyed, with many, describing the farewell as beyond a formal handover, but a testimony of love and appreciation from the people she served.
