Anambra State government embarks on registration of sports instructors, schools, Sports association at Nigeria Immigration office in Awka South Local government area on September 30.
In an interview with Principal Sports Officer, Mrs Perpetua Okafor said that sports instructors engage in filling a form for registration aimed at bringing Sports practitioners under the Anambra State government in order to have a Sports team which will enhance sports development in the State.
She noted that the registration would help sports instructors, schools, sports club, sports association to harness effective sporting in Anambra State.
Expressing his view, a teacher at Central school Nibo, Nnoli Mark Ogochukwu, expressed optimism about the initiative noting that such opportunity will help boost his skills on sports.
A graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University ( NAU) , Awka, Nwabisi David congratulated Anambra State Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo for making the registration easy and fast. He explained that he was enlightened on how to provide ASIN for the exercise emphasizing that youths were given opportunity to be recognized in the State.
“This is a very good idea”,he said.
A second year student in the department of Human Kinetics and Sports Science at NAU, Odinaka Samuel Oranye, solicited for government assistance in providing equipment like punching bag for taekwondo events.
Also, a wrestling Coach, Ekene Osakwe, said that the exercise would enhance grassroots development that will be of benefit to the State government by training youth athletes in the rural areas.
19 participants were involved in the registration.
