The Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area(LGA), Hon. Ezennia Emelie Ibekwe, has convened the first Security Council meeting of his administration to strengthen security coordination and protect lives and property across the area.
The meeting, held on Oct. 20 at the Local Government secretariat, brought together representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Correctional Service and other security stakeholders to assess the security situation and identify ways to address emerging challenges.
Discussions focused on improving cooperation among security agencies and the local government, with participants emphasising the need for effective intelligence sharing, timely communication and coordinated responses to security threats.
The engagement forms part of the administration’s commitment to making security a priority under its Onitsha North Agenda, particularly in safeguarding residents, traders, businesses and other members of the community.
The meeting marks an early step towards strengthening partnerships with security agencies to promote peace, maintain law and order, and create a safer environment for economic and social activities in Onitsha North.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to sustain peace and improve the safety and well-being of residents.
