‎The Department of History, on July 28, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by paying a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, to identify with the University’s environmental agenda and commend her administration’s transformative leadership.

‎The delegation, led by the Head of the Department, Dr. Esther Okezie, comprised Prof. Cynado Ezeogidi, Dr. Chijioke A.C. Okoye, Dr. Ozioma Uchime, Mr. Collins Okelue, Mr. Johnpaul Azubuike, Mrs. Onyebuchi Benita, Mr. Chinonso Kurume, and Mr. Agbodike Chukwudi.

‎Speaking during the visit, Dr. Okezie applauded the Vice-Chancellor’s visionary leadership, highlighting the remarkable progress recorded in campus beautification and environmental sustainability through the University’s “Pick It” initiative.

‎
‎ She noted that the programme has significantly enhanced the aesthetic appeal of both campuses while promoting a stronger culture of environmental responsibility among staff and students.
‎
‎


‎In support of the initiative, the department presented sanitation equipment to the university to strengthen the implementation of the “Pick It” campaign. The items donated included waste bins and a brush cutter to promote a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable campus environment.

‎
‎In her response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, expressed gratitude to the department for its thoughtful contribution and unwavering support for the University’s environmental vision.
‎
‎


‎She stated that the “Pick It” campaign has brought about a significant positive change in students’ attitudes towards environmental sanitation, fostering a culture of cleanliness, responsibility, and environmental stewardship across the University community.

‎
‎Prof. Omenugha further described the initiative as an ongoing learning process that not only enhances the University’s physical environment but also nurtures responsible citizens committed to sustainable environmental practices.
