The Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Ben Odoemenam, has disclosed that plans are underway to establish a standard poultry incubation centre in the state through a strategic partnership with the private sector.
Dr. Odoemenam made this known on June 24, while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Anambra State Chapter, in his office.
He called on interested investors and development partners to take advantage of the opportunity to invest in the poultry sector and create employment for youths, assuring them of the state government’s readiness to provide the necessary technical support.

The Commissioner noted that the Ministry is pursuing increased private sector participation as part of efforts to reposition agriculture as a major driver of economic growth and sustainable development in Anambra State.
He further assured members of the association of the government’s commitment to working closely with veterinary professionals to address the challenges facing the profession and strengthen animal healthcare services across the state.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Victor Ughaerumba, sought the Ministry’s collaboration in organising a public health workshop scheduled for July 27, in Nnewi.
Dr. Ughaerumba also appealed to the state government to intervene in the establishment of standard abattoirs and a veterinary hospital for the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases, noting that such facilities would help curb the spread of zoonotic diseases and improve public health in the state.
