The Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, has called on communicators in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) to deliberately flood the digital space with Christ-centred content to counter the growing spread of ungodly messages online.
Speaking on June 25, at the ongoing 2026 Church of Nigeria Communicators’ Conference held at the Crowther Retreat Centre, Onitsha, Bishop Ikeakor said Christian communicators have a divine responsibility to use digital platforms to advance the Gospel and positively shape society.
“The world is busy flooding the internet with ungodly content. If Christian communicators take their responsibility seriously, the Gospel can reach the entire world in less than one year,” he said.
Delivering an exposition on the conference theme, “The Watchman’s Trumpet: The Future of the Great Commission,” drawn from Ezekiel 33:7, the Bishop stressed that the primary assignment of every Christian communicator is to proclaim Christ.
He observed that modern society is increasingly shaped by information and urged communicators to maximise available technologies and media platforms to influence lives with the message of salvation.
“People are shaped by what they read, hear and see. Communicators must therefore use every available platform to project the message of the Cross,” he stated.
Bishop Ikeakor also challenged communicators to remain professional, proactive, and committed to continuous learning in order to keep pace with the rapidly evolving digital communication landscape.
The conference, which commenced on Tuesday, is expected to conclude on Friday, with participants drawn from dioceses across the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
