The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited, Engr. Okechukwu Okafor, has urged staff of the company to uphold integrity and avoid corrupt practices capable of destroying their future careers.
Speaking during a strategic visit to the Ogidi and Obosi Districts on Wednesday , May 6, Engr. Okafor said workers must not trade their future for temporary gains through bribery, extortion, or abuse of office.

Addressing staff and management teams at the district headquarters, the FirstPower boss delivered a lecture titled “The Audacity of Hope,” where he stressed that hope remains a driving force for resilience, growth, and transformation, especially in challenging times.

According to him, hope is not mere wishful thinking but the energy that inspires individuals and institutions to persevere and work towards a better future.

Engr. Okafor encouraged workers to approach their duties with passion, discipline, and commitment, noting that present responsibilities are preparation for greater opportunities ahead.
He also reflected on his leadership journey, attributing his rise to consistency, hard work, discipline, and refusal to compromise standards, while urging staff to remain focused despite pressures and distractions.

The Managing Director further condemned workplace intimidation, gender discrimination, and sexual exploitation, describing them as threats to productivity and staff welfare. He maintained that employees should be able to work freely and professionally without fear. Projecting a brighter future for the company,

Engr. Okafor assured staff that FirstPower was expanding and would create more leadership and career opportunities for committed workers.

Also speaking, the Head of Connection Management Group, Mrs. Maureen Chinwe Okoye, emphasized ethical service delivery and professionalism, noting that quality customer relations remain essential in building public confidence in the company.

In their separate remarks, the District Business Managers of Ogidi and Obosi, Mr. Okoye Franklin Ifeanyi and Mrs. Ogochukwu Mgbatogu, thanked the Managing Director for the visit, describing it as inspiring and morale-boosting, while pledging their commitment to improved service delivery and operational efficiency.
