Women in Ekwusigo Local Government Area have been encouraged to embrace adult education and leadership development as essential instruments for enhancing political participation and fostering societal transformation.
The appeal was made during the Ekwusigo Women Seminar held on Friday, May 9, 2026, at the Ekwusigo Secretariat. Convened under the theme, “Women Adult Education: Prerequisite for Relevance in Politics and Pillar for a New Generation,” the event was coordinated by Mrs. Juliana Agwaniru, APGA Woman Leader for Ekwusigo LGA.

The seminar brought together women from across the local government area, alongside political stakeholders and community leaders. Resource persons noted that education constitutes a fundamental mechanism for enabling women to engage effectively in politics, governance, and community development. The programme comprised motivational lectures, interactive sessions, and contributions from women leaders committed to advancing female involvement in leadership and governance.
Speakers called on women to pursue continuous learning, personal growth, and increased participation in decision-making processes. They observed that educated women are instrumental in shaping future generations and promoting sustainable development.

Among the resource persons were Barr. Ibuchi Ewuzie, Woman President General of Oraifite, and Lady Esione Ijeoma, Deputy State Woman Leader of APGA. They emphasised the significance of women’s empowerment and inclusion in politics, stating that an educated woman constitutes an asset to her family and a cornerstone for peace and national progress.
Dignitaries present included Sir Vin Dike, represented by Hon. Ifeanyi Chukwulobe; Mrs. Ebele Mgbemena; and Sir Emeka Ukora, Chairman of APGA in Ekwusigo LGA.
Participants described the seminar as both timely and impactful, affirming that the empowerment of women through education would contribute to the strengthening of families, communities, and society at large.
