Media practitioners across Anambra State have lauded Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for reappointing Dr. Law Mefor as Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, describing the move as a reward for competence and a boost for strategic communication in the state.

The commendations followed the governor’s announcement of Mefor’s return to the Ministry of Information, with practitioners pointing to his accessibility, expertise, and visible during his first appointment.

Interacting with some media practitioners in Awka on May 8, a journalist from the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Chibuzo Obidike said the reappointment was well deserved.

“I want to specifically thank Governor Soludo for reappointing Dr. Law Mefor. ABS has enjoyed a cordial relationship with him as a leader and communication expert. He is grounded on the job and knows what journalism and communication are all about,” Obidike said.

He praised Soludo’s leadership foresight, noting that Law Mefor had transformed the Ministry of Information and given ABS a platform for weekly engagement with Ndi Anambra.

“He has brought an ideological vision to ABS. Every week, we interact with Ndi Anambra on what the state government is doing across all sectors. We are very appreciative. Thank God he is back,” Obidike added.

A practitioner with Angel Network News, Awka, Ebenonu Ifeyinwa Queeneth described Soludo as a leader who makes decisions based on results, not politics.

“The governor does thorough investigation. He does not listen to side talk but at the end gets the result he wants. For reappointing Mefor, it shows he knows his worth in the information and communication sector,” Ebenonu said.

Another Practitioner from the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation said Mefor’s return was a signal that Soludo values competence over patronage.

“The governor knows what he is doing. He is not making appointments to please people or a political party. Mefor is our boss, a mentor, a father. He knows journalism and public relations to the core,” Ugwunze said.

He cited Mefor’s “Ask Mr. Commissioner” program on ABS and other media platforms as a game-changer in bringing government activities to the public eye every Thursday.

Also from the ABS Awka, Chukwuemeka Mmuodilim noted that Mefor had done exceedingly well within one year and two months in office.

“Each time I covered government events, I saw him giving updates on what ministries, agencies, and parastatals had done. They say the reward for good work is more work, and Governor Soludo has demonstrated that by returning him,” Mmuodilim said.

Chairman of the Information Chapel of the NUJ, Anambra Council, Dr. Stanley Onunkwo, described Mefor as accessible and responsive.

“Mefor ran an open door policy. He was always ready to tackle any issue brought to him and welcome questions at all times. He has made a visible impact on the Ministry,” Onunkwo said.

He added that the inclusion of Value Reformation in the ministry’s name signals a new mandate to reshape public orientation.

“I know he will do more with the team we have. It truly shows that we are getting it right. The Solution is truly here,” Dr. Onunkwo added.

The reappointment has been widely seen by media stakeholders as a vote of confidence in Mefor’s professional track record and a strategic step to strengthen Soludo’s communication machinery.
