The Mayor-elect of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Hon. Ifeanyi Onuchukwu , has expressed profound appreciation to the people of the area for their overwhelming support and confidence in him during the August 29 Anambra State Local Government elections.
Onuchukwu, in a post-election appreciation message, described the massive turnout and peaceful participation of voters as a strong demonstration of their collective desire for unity, progress and a brighter future for Ekwusigo.
He said he was deeply honoured by the mandate entrusted to him, pledging to discharge his responsibilities with humility, fairness and an unwavering commitment to the development of the local government.
According to him, the victory was not his alone but belonged to every son and daughter of Ekwusigo, including traditional rulers, elders, women, youths, religious and community leaders, party faithful, supporters and volunteers who contributed to the success of the campaign.
The Mayor-elect also commended the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the national, state and local government levels for its guidance, encouragement and support throughout the electioneering process.
He particularly expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for what he described as his visionary and transformational leadership, which, he said, had continued to strengthen APGA and deepen the confidence of Ndi Anambra in the party-led administration.
Onuchukwu also acknowledged the contributions of critical stakeholders across Ekwusigo, noting that their support, counsel and commitment to peace and unity played an important role in the electoral process.
He called on all residents of the local government to put the election behind them and unite for the overall development of Ekwusigo, irrespective of political affiliation or personal preferences.
“The election has come and gone. Now is the time to set aside our differences and unite as one people, bound together by our shared heritage, common destiny and collective aspirations,” he said.
The Mayor-elect assured residents that his administration would be open, accountable, responsive and inclusive, promising that no community would be neglected and no resident would be left behind.
He pledged to serve every community and ward with fairness, humility and dedication, while prioritising a safer, stronger and more prosperous Ekwusigo through people-centred leadership.
Onuchukwu thanked the people of Ekwusigo for believing in his vision and entrusting him with what he described as a “sacred mandate,” promising to work collectively with residents to build the Ekwusigo of their dreams.
He concluded by praying for God’s blessings upon Ndi Ekwusigo, APGA and the new administration as they embark on the next phase of development and service.
