‎The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Onitsha South Constituency II (Odoakpu) in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. James Ibezimako Akpudo, has been honoured with a Grand Patron Award in recognition of his contributions to the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Onitsha Archdiocese.
‎
‎Akpudo received the award at the 2026 Onitsha Archdiocese Catholic Women Organisation Convention, held on October 24 at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
‎

‎The convention, themed “Building Christ-Centred Families in an Ever-Changing World,” brought together Catholic women and other participants to deliberate on family values, responsible parenting and the importance of Christian principles in contemporary society.
‎
‎In his homily, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Emegwalu urged mothers to remain intentional and vigilant in raising their children, particularly in the face of evolving societal attitudes and lifestyles associated with Generation Z. He highlighted the importance of love, prayer and forgiveness as essential ingredients for building peaceful, united and Christ-centred families.
‎

‎The priest also emphasised the need for responsible parenting, advising mothers to strike a balance between showing affection to their children and providing appropriate discipline rather than indulging them excessively.
‎
‎He further stressed that parents have a responsibility to guide their children and instil sound moral and Christian values in them to enable them to navigate the challenges of modern society. The convention began with a Holy Mass celebrated by the Vicar General of the Onitsha Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. John Bosco Okafor.
‎
‎A major highlight of the event was the presentation of Encouragement, Patron and Patroness Awards to more than 100 individuals in recognition of their commitment, achievements and contributions to the Archdiocese.
‎
‎Akpudo’s Grand Patron Award underscored his contributions to the Catholic Women Organisation and his support for its activities within the Onitsha Archdiocese.
‎
‎The convention reaffirmed the importance of cooperation among religious institutions, families and individuals in promoting Christian values, strengthening family relationships and nurturing responsible future generations.
