‎The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old suspected criminal, Udochukwu Okafor, popularly known as “Small-Moto,” during a security operation in Ebenebe community on October 24.
‎
‎The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in an official statement released to journalists in Awka, stating that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, apprehended the suspect following intelligence-led efforts to track him down.
‎
‎According to the police spokesperson, Okafor was on the command’s wanted list over his alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, cult-related activities and offences linked to secessionist activities.
‎

‎Ikenga explained that preliminary interrogation reportedly revealed the suspect’s alleged involvement in the theft of a pump-action firearm from a vigilante operative in Ebenebe.
‎
‎The suspect also allegedly disclosed that he possessed a locally manufactured short gun, which he and other members of his alleged gang reportedly used during their criminal operations.
‎
‎The police further said Okafor allegedly admitted to belonging to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, popularly known as “Aro-Baggers,” a group suspected of involvement in cult-related violence in Awka and surrounding communities.
‎
‎The command has since intensified investigations to recover the firearms mentioned during interrogation, determine the extent of the suspect’s alleged involvement in criminal activities and track down other suspected gang members who are still at large.
‎
‎The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue, while the command has reaffirmed its determination to identify and apprehend individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities across the state.
‎The police added that further information would be made available as the investigation progresses.
