The Obosi Security Management and Finance Committee has unveiled plans to strengthen the town’s security architecture as part of efforts to enhance the protection of lives and property across the community.

The committee, established in line with the provisions of the Anambra Homeland Security Law, disclosed the plans during the inauguration of the restructured Obosi Security Architecture held at the Obosi Town Hall on July 1.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Committee, Rtd. Col. Sam Agbanusi, said the security framework would be reorganized and repositioned to improve its effectiveness in tackling security challenges in the town.

He explained that security operations would be decentralized, with each village in Obosi having its own security outpost operating under the supervision of the obosi central security outfit.

“Every village in Obosi will have a security outpost where security operatives will be stationed. However, we are not making the operational details of the new security architecture public because security matters require confidentiality,” Agbanusi said.

Agbanusi noted that the committee remains committed to implementing strategies that will strengthen security across the community while ensuring that operational plans are handled with the necessary discretion.

The Obosi Security Management and Finance Committee was constituted last year as a 50-member body to oversee security matters in the town. Since its inauguration, the committee has been mobilising resources to establish a ₦200 million Obosi Security Endowment Fund to support sustainable security operations.

According to the committee, many Obosi indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, have made significant contributions to the fund, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding the community.

Also speaking, the President General of the Obosi Development Union (ODU), Barr. Chimezie Obi, appealed to indigenes who are yet to contribute to the security endowment fund to do so in support of the town’s collective security efforts.

“We appeal to all Obosi indigenes who are yet to support the ₦200 million Security Endowment Fund to make their contributions. Ensuring the safety of our community is a shared responsibility,” Obi said.

The committee expressed optimism that the restructured security architecture, backed by adequate funding and community participation, would significantly enhance peace, security, and public safety in Obosi.
