The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and efficient public service delivery, pledging continued support for initiatives that strengthen good governance and improve the lives of residents.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, gave the assurance while receiving officials of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Phase II Project on a courtesy visit to her office.
RoLAC Phase II is a European Union-supported initiative implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) to assist Anambra State in implementing its Anti-Corruption Strategy aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and integrity across public institutions.
Speaking during the visit, the Anti-Corruption Programme Manager of RoLAC Phase II, International IDEA, Dr. Emmanuel Uche, said the project is designed to improve public service delivery by establishing stronger oversight and accountability mechanisms across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He explained that the project is also working to institutionalise anti-corruption committees in MDAs, strengthen the project’s secretariat with government support and deepen collaboration with the state government to ensure the successful implementation of the anti-corruption strategy.
Responding, Mrs. Nnake described the initiative as timely and commendable but emphasised the importance of sustainability. She noted that while development partners can support critical reforms, lasting impact depends on strong government ownership and institutional commitment beyond external funding.
The SSG reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration to supporting programmes that promote transparency, strengthen accountability and enhance public service delivery, stressing that the government remains focused on initiatives that deliver measurable and sustainable benefits to the people of Anambra State.
