The Mayor of Anambra East Local Government Area, Sir Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, has strengthened access to potable water in Nsugbe through the provision of 10 solar-powered boreholes across the community.
The project, commissioned on Aug. 24, is expected to bring water closer to residents, families, farmers and businesses, while addressing a critical need and improving living conditions across Nsugbe.
The use of solar-powered technology is also aimed at promoting a more sustainable water supply system by reducing dependence on conventional electricity and ensuring more reliable access to the facilities.
The initiative reflects the Chinweze administration’s focus on people-oriented development, particularly projects designed to address the immediate needs of residents and deliver tangible benefits to communities across Anambra East.
The new boreholes are expected to support households in meeting their domestic water needs, while providing farmers and businesses with a more dependable source of water for their daily activities.
As Anambra East prepares for its next local government election, supporters of the mayor have cited the Nsugbe water projects and other infrastructure initiatives as evidence of his administration’s developmental efforts.
They expressed support for his re-election, saying a second term would enable him to consolidate ongoing projects, initiate additional development programmes and sustain the progress recorded across the local government area.
The supporters also called on sons and daughters of Anambra East to turn out en masse on Aug. 29 to vote for Chinweze, citing his commitment to infrastructure development, water provision and community-oriented projects.
