In a bid to strengthen the quality of education and support teaching profession, the Chike Ibegbu Foundation has unveiled a Teachers Empowerment Initiative targeted at educators in Onitsha North Constituency II.
The programme is designed to recognize the contributions of teachers while equipping them with modern skills and resources needed to improve learning outcomes across schools in the constituency.
Speaking during the announcement, Chike Ibegbu emphasized the critical role teachers play in shaping the future of society, noting that investing in educators remains one of the most effective ways to drive sustainable development.
“Teachers are the backbone of our educational system. When we empower them with the right tools, training, and motivation, we are directly investing in the future of our children and the growth of our community,” he told newsmen.

According to the foundation, the initiative will feature a series of capacity-building programmes, including workshops, professional training sessions, and mentorship opportunities aimed at enhancing teaching methods and classroom effectiveness.
Education stakeholders in the area have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, especially in a period where continuous professional development for teachers is essential to meet evolving educational standards.
A participating teacher, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed optimism about the programme.
“This kind of support is what many teachers have been hoping for. It will not only improve our skills but also motivate us to do more for our students,” the teacher said.
The Teachers Empowerment Initiative is part of the foundation’s broader commitment to advancing education and fostering community development in Onitsha North Constituency II.
