‎The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) has intensified its campaign for wider health insurance coverage by taking its sensitisation drive to an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign rally organised by the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA).
‎
‎The rally, held on Aug. 22, at the Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha, attracted APGA candidates contesting various elective positions in the forthcoming elections, as well as market leaders, traders and party supporters from across Anambra State.
‎

‎Representing the Executive Secretary of ASHIA, Dr. Augustine Ezeka, at the event, Izuchukwu Ogbaji educated participants on the importance of health insurance and the benefits of enrolling in the scheme. Ogbaji encouraged individuals and families to secure health insurance coverage as a means of gaining access to quality and affordable healthcare and reducing the financial burden associated with medical treatment.

‎He also introduced participants to the ASHIA Adoption Model, an initiative that enables philanthropists, organisations, political leaders and other well-meaning individuals to sponsor health insurance coverage for people who may be unable to afford the required premium. He urged participants to consider adopting vulnerable persons in their communities into the health insurance scheme as part of their efforts to improve access to healthcare.

‎Speaking at the rally, the President-General of ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna, stressed the importance of providing sustainable healthcare support to members of society. Chief Anuna urged political candidates and other stakeholders to explore the ASHIA Adoption Model to extend health insurance coverage to vulnerable people within their constituencies.

‎He noted that investing in healthcare was more sustainable than providing temporary assistance such as food items or cash, stressing that healthy citizens were better positioned to remain productive and contribute to the development of their communities.
‎
‎The ASMATA leader therefore encouraged the participants to make health insurance adoption part of their community support initiatives, describing access to affordable healthcare as an important component of improving the welfare of the people.
