The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Rev Valerian Maduka Okeke, has laid the foundation stone for a Rectory at Shanahan University Onitsha, Anambra State.
The project, donated by Engr Ikem Osanakpo and family in memory of their late parents, Louis and Kate Osanakpo, aims to support the university’s growth.
In recognition, Archbishop Okeke prayed for the donor and his family that God will bless and reward them. “I pray also for the completion of this project, and may this Rectory be a symbol of our commitment to education and faith,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Engr Ikem Osanakpo dedicated the project in memory of their late parents.
“I want to contribute to the progress of Onitsha community. We are part of Onitsha and we must play our role in shaping its future.” Ikem added
The Vice Chancellor of Shanahan University, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Josephat Obi Oguejiofor lauds the donor’s family and prayed for God’s continuous blessing.
The Archdiocesan Education Secretary, Rev. Fr. Dr. Paschal Onwugbenu, prayed for the speedy completion of the project.
“May this Rectory be a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of faith and education.”
Contractor Engr Uche Ubajiaka described the building as “a significant and laudable development”, adding that it would provide adequate accommodation and comfort for priests working at the University.
Very Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Basil Ekwunife, Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese,
Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, Archdiocesan Director of Communications; Very Rev. Fr. (Barr.) Justice Ileka; and site Supervisor, Rev. Fr. Charles Otuto were among the dignitaries in attendance.
