APGA’s influence in Onitsha North Ward 11 received a significant boost as more than 500 defectors from rival parties formally joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Onitsha North LGA. Led by grassroots stalwart, Hon. Sunday Odukwe, the newcomers were officially welcomed by the Mayor, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora and local government chairman, Chief Okwy Maduekwe at the ward’s induction ceremony.
“APGA is more than a party—it is a family,” declared Mayor Nwora, assuring the new comers that they had backed a movement committed to community development. He urged them to remain dedicated and work alongside existing members to deliver a resounding victory for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on November 8.

Chief Maduekwe underscored the significance of the defection, calling it “proof of APGA’s track record of progress” and pledging support for each new member’s political engagement.
In response, Hon. Sunday Odukwe vowed to channel his influence toward securing a “block vote” for Soludo in Ward 11.
Party stalwarts also praised Governor Soludo’s development agenda. Deputy Chairman, Hon. Ikemefuna Nzekwu highlighted state‑wide infrastructure projects, while Ward 11 Chairman, Mr. Nwizu Okosi and Councillor, Hon. Obiora Obi applauded Mayor Nwora’s local initiatives. Each speaker stressed unity and collective action ahead of the election.

A standout moment saw one defector who was recognized for her past contributions and appointed to the mayor’s advisory team on the spot. Other notable attendees included Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Ngozi Ezediniru, Hon. Chike Ibegbu, Lady Kay Chukwurah, Hon. Nadis, and Hon. Benjamin Obiesie. Supporting the event were Mayor Nwora’s senior aides, including Chief of Staff, Hon. Tagbo Emodi, Hon. Tony Nelo, Hon. Chukwudi Enebeli, and Media Director, Ekene Ogene Promise.
