The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has described the National Orientation Agency (NOA) as a key partner in nation-building and community development, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting the agency’s programmes across the Local Government Areas(LGA).
Hon. Anazodo made the remark on June 16 while receiving a delegation of NOA officials on a courtesy visit to the LGA. The team was led by the NOA Local Government Principal Officer, Barr. Mrs. Silvia Okeke, who said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the agency and the LGA in advancing civic education, value reorientation and public enlightenment programmes in line with the Federal Government’s National Value Charter.
Barr. Okeke stressed the importance of grassroots sensitisation on government policies, positive behavioural change, security consciousness and active citizen participation in governance. According to her, sustained community engagement remains critical to promoting responsible citizenship and national development.
Responding, Hon. Anazodo thanked the NOA delegation for the visit, commending the agency’s role in shaping public attitudes and promoting national values, noting that effective public orientation is essential to addressing challenges such as youth restiveness, misinformation, tax compliance and environmental sanitation.
The mayor assured the delegation of his administration’s readiness to work closely with the agency in taking awareness campaigns to markets, schools, churches and town hall meetings across the LGA, noting that the partnership would help strengthen patriotism, civic responsibility and social cohesion among residents.
The meeting ended with both parties agreeing to establish a joint desk to facilitate continuous engagement and coordinate community outreach programmes across the four quarters of Nnewi.
