The Anambra State Ministry of Transport has mourned Chief Jonathan Ngozi Okpagu, Omeluora Nise, a respected stakeholder who advanced transportation development in the state.
Chief Okpagu, 78, died after years of dedicated service and community leadership. Burial rites began on, 19th August, in Nise with a Service of Songs.
Proceedings continued Thursday, 20th August, with a funeral service at St. Peter and Paul Anglican Church, Nise, followed by interment and condolence visits.

Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Ibuzo, led ministry officials including Permanent Secretary, Engr. Michael Obiekwe, to honour the deceased and commiserate with the family.
Commissioner Ibuzo described the death as “an irreparable loss.” He offered condolences and prayed for the peaceful repose of Chief Okpagu’s soul.
Engr. Obiekwe eulogised him as a distinguished stakeholder whose support helped grow the transport sector and left a legacy worthy of honour.

The burial attracted dignitaries including former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi; Senator Victor Umeh; and the Traditional Ruler of Nise, Igwe Romanus Iloh, among other personalities.
The Ministry commiserated with the Okpagu family and honoured Chief Okpagu’s service, leadership, and contributions to Anambra’s transport development.

They prayed God grants the family strength and comfort as they remember his impact on community and state development.
