At two scores less than five, Anambra’s march to greatness is not in doubt having passed through the military regime during the President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida regime to the present civilian regime in Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

For some analysts, the state which boasts of all time greats but to mention a few of them, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Rt. Hon. Nwafor Orizu, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Dr.Alex Ekwueme, Prof. Chinua Achebe, Dr Pius Okigbo, Cardinal Francis Arinze, Sir Louis Mbanefo, HRH Igwe Osita Agwuna, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, Prof.Dora Akunyili, HRH Igwe Gibson Nwosu, Mr. Emmanuel Okala, Mr. Innocent Egbunike, Chief Philip Emeagwali, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Chief Augustine Ilodibe, Chief Allen Onyema, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, and Chief Osita Osadebe, cannot be taken for granted in terms of assessing their level of development.

A detailed study of the state since its creation portrays a progressive steady march to greatness.

Although hiccups of military interrognums, teething problems of growth, challenges of interests and other minuses have affected the growth of the state, it has not deterred its steady growth.

Populated by a resilient, enterprising, resourceful and never say die people, the state can proudly be ranked as a progessive entity among others created alongside with it 35 years ago.

For the Chief Medical Director, Beluchukwu Memorial hospital Enugwu-Ukwu, Dr.Tochukwu Mbachi who bared his mind on the state development so far, his verdict is in the affirmative that the state has moved forward but has large room for improvement.

According to Dr. Mbachi, the health sector in the state has received a tremendous boost with the enlargement of the teaching hospitals in the state, building and renovation of general hospitals in the state, strengthening the state insurance healthcare scheme, providing free ante natal, free caesarian healthcare deliveries for expectant mothers in government’s public hospitals, others.

His expectation is that the state primary healthcare delivery system should be more strengthened to enhance the state healthcare delivery system, improved welfare of doctors and healthcare workers at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu teaching hospital Awka, and the enhanced welfare package for all doctors and healthcare workers in Nigeria.

Dr. Mbachi a national officer of the Nigeria Medical Association and former state chairman of NMA, is also canvassing for a health system in the state where assess to health is affordable and medical equipments increased in state health Institutions.

He further pressed for a sustainable partnership between the state government, private health practitioners and other stakeholders in the state to enhance the healthcare delivery in the state.

Given the danger being faced by the state as an erosion prone entity, Dr. Mbachi suggested an intentional behavioral paradigm shift dovetailing toward protecting the environment through positive activities that promote healthy environment.

Dr Mbachi scored the state high in the education sector and in the security sector where some improvements have been made.

He paid tributes to all the governors and administrators who have governed the state from inception to the present administration under Governor Chukwuma Soludo who has made some appreciable reforms in the health, education and other sectors of the economy including breaking the decades aged jinx of moving the government house and governor’s lodge to their permanent locations in the Awka state capital.

His full expectation is that all Anambra residents should rise to be part of the positive change they deserve.

As an illustrious Enugwu-Ukwu indigene with the traditional title ‘Anyilinanya Enugwu- Ukwu na Umunri’, Dr. Mbachi used the forum to felicitate with his traditional ruler HRM Igwe Ralph Obumnene Ekpeh ahead of his traditional new yam festival slated to hold on August 28.
