The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has approved partnering with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) in hosting their annual national conference titled ‘Ijele 2026’ on November 3, noting that the state will assist in various areas, especially regarding the venue.
The Governor, represented by Chief of Staff Dr. Ben Nwankwo, announced this today, June 10 during a courtesy visit by PSN delegates at the Office of the Chief of Staff in Anambra State Light House, Awka.

He expressed that the hosting of the prominent event in Anambra is an honour. “We welcome you and your team to the State. You can enjoy attractions like Solution Fun City, Anambra State Country Club, and others.”
Governor Soludo noted that the conference’s name, ‘Ijele,’ which refers to a legendary masquerade with cultural and historical significance, promises a remarkable event, adding that the state’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will be constituted to partake in the planning.

The PSN President Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, thanked the governor for the audience, praising his visionary leadership, fiscal discipline, innovation-driven governance, infrastructure development, and economic strategies. “PSN, established in 1927, is Nigeria’s main professional body for pharmacists and will celebrate its centenary in 2027.”
He explained that choosing Anambra for the conference demonstrates Nigeria pharmacists’ confidence in the state’s commitment to industrialization, healthcare, human capital development, and investment-friendly policies.

“Ijele 2026′ aims to gather about 5,000 delegates from Nigeria and abroad, including pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, healthcare professionals, industry leaders, policymakers, investors, development partners, and regulators. Over 300 pharmaceutical manufacturers, importers, distributors, and service providers are expected to participate.
The group president requested government partnership and support to ensure the event’s success by providing logistical support, transportation, accommodations for VIPs, sponsorship for key activities, and access to state facilities, making Ijele 2026 a landmark event.
