The Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon Romanus Ibekwe, has highlighted the critical role of ambulance services in responding to emergencies and saving lives, describing the service as an essential component of effective healthcare delivery.
Ibekwe made the remarks on September 30 during the commissioning of ambulance services at Anaocha Local Government Secretariat, Neni.
The Mayor said that the availability of ambulances would strengthen emergency response within the local government by ensuring that patients and accident victims receive timely transportation to appropriate healthcare facilities.
He noted that emergencies often required immediate medical attention, stressing that delays in transporting patients could worsen their conditions and, in critical cases, result in loss of lives.
*The introduction of the ambulance service demonstrates the local government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and ensuring that residents have access to emergency medical assistance when needed”, he said.
Ibekwe urged health care workers, drivers and other personnel involved in the operation of the ambulances to handle the vehicles responsibly and ensure that they were readily available for genuine emergencies. He also called on residents to support and protect the ambulance service, emphasizing that its effective operation would benefit the entire community.
The commissioning marked another step in efforts to strengthen emergency healthcare services in Anaocha Local Government Area and improve the chances of survival for residents requiring urgent medical attention.
