ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT COLLABORATES WITH CIPM TO TRAIN AND CERTIFY CHARTERED PERSONNEL STAFF

The Anambra State Government through the Office of the Head of Service is collaborating with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management to train and certify Administrative Officers as Chartered human resource managers.

In the maiden training workshop held yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Auditorium, the numerous benefits of the program were reeled out to the civil servants present.

Addressing the participants, the Anambra State, Head of Service, Lady Okwy Igwegbe, urged them to seize the opportunity to climb to the zenith of their career by leveraging on the collaboration of the Anambra Government and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management.

Lady Igwegbe who was represented by the Director of training, Office of the Head of Service, Mrs. Chinyere Ojukwu urged the staff to diligently pursue the certification as Chartered Personnel Managers as progressing beyond certain levels in their careers would be determined by this qualification.

She noted that this collaboration presents a rare opportunity on a platter of gold for civil servants who seek to advance in their careers.

The foremost Civil Servant then thanked the Chairman of CIPM, Anambra Chapter and other resource persons for their commitment to the success of the training.

Dame Igwegbe in the same vein thanked the leadership of the state, Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his enigmatic leadership which has continued to chart the course of continuous development for workers in Anambra State.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Anambra State Chapter, Mr. Elvis Zini thanked the state government for opening this career advancement door to the workers in the state.

Mr.Zini while introducing what the CIPM body represents, opined that the body is the apex governing body in Nigeria as regards personnel management backed by the statutes of the Nigerian Law.

He highlighted how important it was for anyone who is an administrator, a manager or in any other related field to strive to become a chartered personnel manager as it is the qualification that certifies one as professional manager.

He equally noted that one could be terminated at a certain cadre in Civil Service without this qualification hence for one to advance beyond grade level 13 such individual as a matter of policy must be a chartered personnel manager.

The chairman then encouraged the staff to seize the opportunity to give themselves a career leap which would ensure they are prepared and qualified for eventual promotion or appointments.

Equally speaking, Mr. Louis Ntada a resource person also took out time to elucidate the position of the CIPM as the apex body of human resource management professionally in Nigeria while calling on Administrative Staff of the Anambra Civil Service to join the over 2000 members of the CIPM nationally.
