The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze, PhD, has applauded the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for appointing Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme, Dr. Obianuju Chinelo Okoye, and Dr. Hillary Nkem Okeke to head major healthcare institutions in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Speaker described the appointments as strategic and commendable, noting that Governor Soludo has once again demonstrated his commitment to strengthening Anambra’s healthcare system through merit-based leadership.
According to Rt. Hon. Udeze, the appointment of the three medical professionals reflects the governor’s determination to place capable and experienced hands in critical sectors of governance.
“I heartily congratulate His Excellency, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, on these significant appointments. The individuals selected for these important positions are seasoned professionals with proven competence, integrity, and administrative capacity.
Once again, Mr. Governor has shown his dedication to excellence and merit,” the Speaker stated.
Rt. Hon. Udeze expressed particular joy over the appointment of Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme as the Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), describing it as a proud moment for the people of Ogwuikpele and the entire Ogbaru Local Government Area.
He said Dr. Ezeaka, a son of Ogwuikpele and a distinguished indigene of Ogbaru Two Constituency, possesses the experience, competence, and leadership qualities needed to reposition the agency for greater impact.
“The appointment of Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme is a source of pride to the people of Ogwuikpele and Ogbaru at large. He is a man of exceptional character and professional excellence, with over 22 years of experience in clinical practice, advanced training, and medical administration. I am confident he will take ASHIA to greater heights,” Udeze added.
The Speaker also congratulated Dr. Obianuju Chinelo Okoye, newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, and Dr. Hillary Nkem Okeke, appointed Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency, urging them to bring dedication and innovation to their new roles.
He expressed confidence in their ability to justify the trust placed in them by the governor and called on them to remain transparent, focused, and committed to improving healthcare delivery for the people of Anambra State.
Rt. Hon. Udeze further assured the appointees of the support of the Anambra State House of Assembly, especially in providing legislative backing for policies and initiatives aimed at improving the health sector.
He prayed for wisdom and divine guidance for the new appointees as they assume office, while encouraging Ndi Anambra to celebrate the appointments as a reward for competence, hard work, and service.
