The Staff Welfare Association of the Anambra State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning held a strategic meeting at the Inter-Agency Conference room with a renewed call for unity, structured leadership, and collective support among members.
Addressing the gathering, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Chinyere Nwabachili, said the bond among staff goes beyond “statistics, information, or even common certificates.
“What brings us together is our shared purpose and the values we hold as a community,” Mrs. Nwabachili said.

“This is a family built on mutual care, shared interests, and collective growth. We are not left out; we are part of something that has existed before now and has grown through the support of like-minded individuals”.
She urged the members to uphold integrity and protect the unity already built, stressing that welfare must serve as a strong support system for all.
“Welfare is very important. It should be a place where we find help in times of need, whether financially, educationally, or otherwise. We must ensure no one is left behind. Let us accept one another in the spirit of brotherhood and extend a hand of friendship at all times,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary prayed for continued peace and harmony, adding, “Let nothing disrupt our plans or the unity we have built. May we always maintain a brotherly spirit as we move forward.”
Also speaking, Mr. Prince Obidike proposed that the welfare committee should be properly structured and led by a committed chairperson to drive programmes that would benefit members.
He disclosed that members agreed on a three to six-month timeline to finalize leadership and programme structures, with an interim team to oversee the process in the meantime.
“This effort is for all of us, not just a few individuals,” Obidike said. “Its success depends on unity, cooperation, and active participation from everyone”.
The meeting ended with members reaffirming their commitment to building a strong, united association that would uplift every staff of the ministry.
