The Anambra State Police Command has combined emergency response with community support after rescuing an unconscious man during patrol and paying school fees for five outstanding pupils.
Operatives from the Okpoko Division found the yet-to-be-identified elderly man lying unconscious beside Dozzy Filling Station on the Onitsha/Owerri Road during a routine foot patrol. Officers immediately rushed him to hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The Command said it is concerned about the victim’s condition and is appealing to members of the public with information about his identity, family, or residence to contact the Okpoko Police Division or the Command’s headquarters.
In a separate outreach, the Command fulfilled a pledge made during National Police Day celebrations by paying the second-term school fees of five pupils who excelled academically in their classes.
Officials said the gesture is intended to encourage academic excellence and support education as part of broader nation-building efforts in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, said the Command remains committed to both law enforcement and initiatives that directly improve lives, particularly for young people.
“The Police will continue to combine effective policing with people-oriented programmes that foster trust, compassion, and community development,” he said.
The dual actions were confirmed in a statement issued on May 19 by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga
