The Anambra State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of Mr. Paul Onwualu in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, preliminary investigations revealed that the officers allegedly involved in Onwualu’s arrest before he developed sudden health complications and later died have been identified. However, the officers are reportedly not personnel of the Anambra State Command.
The Command stated that the matter is being handled with the utmost seriousness to ensure that the true circumstances surrounding the incident are uncovered.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, appealed to residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to run its full course without interference. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the protection of lives and property, assuring Ndi Anambra and the general public that a thorough and impartial investigation would be conducted.
