The State Hospital Administrator, Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme, has commended Medshare and Coca-Cola for partnering with the Anambra State Government to organize an intensive training program for Biomedical Engineers in the state.

Dr. Ifeanaeme gave the commendation during the training session held at the General Hospital Enugwu Ukwu, which brought together Biomedical Engineers from primary, secondary, and tertiary health institutions across the state.

He emphasized that the importance of properly functioning hospital equipment cannot be overstated. According to him, well-maintained equipment ensures accurate results, enabling doctors to provide quality healthcare services to patients.

“We discovered a shortage of biomedical engineers in the state. That is why, with the support of the Anambra State Government, alongside Medshare and Coca-Cola, we went the extra mile to bring in experienced biomedical engineers to train our technicians,” he said.

Dr. Ifeanaeme noted that the training, which is offered free of charge, is open to technicians from state hospitals, mission facilities, tertiary institutions, private hospitals, and other interested individuals.

He added that some healthcare workers also participated in the program to acquire basic knowledge on maintaining equipment and ensuring optimal performance.

The training is also designed to foster collaboration among biomedical engineers in the state, creating a platform for knowledge sharing and technical support across primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare facilities.

Dr. Ifeanaeme expressed optimism that within the next six months, there would be significant improvements in service delivery and equipment uptime in the participating facilities. He further said that refresher courses are expected to be organized to reinforce the skills acquired during the training.

He observed that most secondary healthcare facilities in the state were well represented at the training and commended participants for their enthusiasm and commitment.

He urged the trainees to remain focused and take full advantage of the opportunity, describing it as highly beneficial to both their professional development and the healthcare system in the state.

Dr. Ifeanaeme also expressed appreciation to Coca-Cola and Medshare for their support, adding that continued collaboration would help reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates in Anambra State.
