A member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ward 4, Onitsha North, Mr. Chukwudifu Henry Kwentoh, has endorsed Hon. Mimi Ifeoma Azikiwe for a second term in the Anambra State House of Assembly, citing her performance and commitment to grassroots representation.

In a statement titled “A Converted Voice: Why Mimi Deserves a Second Mandate,” Kwentoh disclosed that he was initially among those who opposed Azikiwe’s emergence, insisting at the time that the wife of the late Justice Azuka should complete the tenure of her husband following his tragic death.

According to him, his earlier position was driven by what he described as a desire for continuity and justice. However, he noted that events after Azikiwe’s emergence as lawmaker changed his perception of her leadership capacity.

“What followed has been nothing short of instructive. Against my expectations, her performance in the State House of Assembly has been not only visible but impactful,” he stated.

Kwentoh praised the lawmaker for maintaining close contact with constituents through regular town hall meetings and direct engagement with the people, adding that her accessibility and responsiveness distinguish her from many public office holders.

“She has proven that leadership is not about how one emerges, but what one does with the mandate,” he added.

The APGA member further revealed that his renewed confidence in the party’s leadership and representation influenced his decision to revalidate his membership in the party, which he noted was once led at the state level by his late cousin, Akunwata Mike Kwentoh (Okosisi).

He argued that Azikiwe’s record in office demonstrates growth, consistency, and dedication to people-centred governance, stressing that leadership should ultimately be judged by performance and impact.

Kwentoh concluded by formally endorsing Azikiwe for re-election as representative of Onitsha North Constituency I, stating that his support was based on conviction and experience rather than sentiment.

“Sometimes, the strongest support comes from those who once stood in opposition and later chose to stand for truth,” the statement read.
