The Anambra State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, has commended the Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area(LGA), Hon. Prince Chinedu Okafor, for his commitment to improving the welfare and security of corps members serving in the area.
Mrs. Ojisua gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the mayor at his office on July 7.
She explained that the visit was to appreciate the mayor’s consistent support for the NYSC Scheme, particularly the ongoing construction of a befitting NYSC Corps Lodge in Awka South, which is now at the final stage of completion.

According to her, the project will significantly enhance accommodation and overall welfare for corps members posted to the LGA.
The state coordinator expressed gratitude for the LGA’s continued partnership with the NYSC, appealing for sustained support and additional interventions to strengthen the welfare, security and operational effectiveness of corps members.

Responding, Hon. Prince Chinedu Okafor acknowledged the important role of the NYSC Scheme in national development and the socio-economic advancement of Awka South LGA.
He praised corps members for their contributions in education, healthcare, environmental sanitation, sports development and community service.
The mayor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with the NYSC, assuring the state coordinator of continued support for initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and service conditions of corps members.
