The Anambra State Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Offornze Dike Amucheazi (SAN), has called for stronger collaboration between the Ministry of Lands and the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Anambra State Chapter, to advance the state’s vision of a liveable, prosperous and smart homeland.

Prof. Amucheazi made the call on June 8 when he received a delegation from the NITP, Anambra State Chapter, during a courtesy visit to his office.

The commissioner noted that town planners play a critical role in the realization of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s development agenda, particularly in key projects such as the New Niger City, Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC), Awka 2.0 and the regeneration of old Awka city.

According to him, achieving the administration’s urban renewal and development goals requires close partnership among government agencies, professional bodies and other relevant stakeholders.

“Town planners have critical roles to play in actualizing the vision and mandate of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for a liveable, prosperous, and smart homeland,” Prof. Amucheazi said.

He emphasized the need for sustained synergy between the Ministry and NITP to ensure proper land use planning, orderly urban development and efficient land administration across the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Anambra State Chapter, Tpl. Igwilo Ifeanyi, commended the commissioner for maintaining a cordial working relationship with the Institute and for the transparency demonstrated in the administration of the ministry.

Tpl. Ifeanyi reaffirmed the commitment of the NITP to support the ministry in strengthening land administration and promoting effective physical planning practices in Anambra State.

Both parties expressed optimism that closer collaboration would contribute significantly to creating sustainable communities and improving the quality of life for residents of the state.
