The Chairman of Main Market, Hon. Chijioke Okpalaugo, has urged traders operating along market roads to embrace positive changes in their business practices to foster orderliness, improve commercial activities, and support the long-term growth of local markets.
Hon. Okpalaugo made the appeal during an engagement with roadside traders on July 8, emphasizing the need for traders to adapt to evolving market realities by adopting more organized and customer-friendly approaches to business.
Addressing the traders, the main market chairman noted that the changing business environment demands flexibility, innovation and a willingness to comply with regulations designed to create a better trading atmosphere for all stakeholders.
He stressed that effective communication and mutual understanding between market authorities and traders are vital for maintaining peace, resolving concerns, and creating an environment that encourages business expansion.
According to Hon. Okpalaugo, the initiative is not intended to disrupt livelihoods but to strengthen the market system through cooperation, compliance and shared responsibility.
He explained that the effort aligns with the Solution Government’s agenda for Ndị Ahịa (traders) by promoting a cleaner, safer, and more orderly trading environment. Such measures, he said, would attract more customers, enhance commercial activities and contribute to sustainable economic growth across Anambra State.
The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to continuous dialogue with traders, assuring them that their concerns and suggestions would be considered in the implementation of policies affecting market operations.
He encouraged all traders to work closely with market authorities, remaining committed to practices that promote orderliness, economic development and the overall prosperity of the trading community.
The engagement ended with a renewed commitment by Hon. Chijioke Okpalaugo and the traders to foster collaboration, strengthen mutual trust, and build a vibrant market environment capable of meeting the demands of a modern and competitive economy.
