‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ekene Ogugua, has praised Mayor Chibueze Oforbuike of Aguata Local Government Area for what he described as a quiet but impactful commitment to transforming education at the grassroots through strategic investments in digital learning.
‎
‎Prof. Ogugua gave the commendation on, 21st May, 2026, during the commissioning of a state‑of‑the‑art electronic library built and donated by Mayor Oforbuike to the Igbo‑Ukwu community in Aguata Local Government Area.
‎

‎The Commissioner, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu, described the project as a practical demonstration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for digitalised education across the state.
‎
‎According to him, the facility will help equip students with the technological skills needed to compete favourably with their counterparts globally, irrespective of their geographical location. “What we are witnessing today is the visible translation of Governor Soludo’s vision to provide digital training opportunities for students across the state. This initiative will expose students in rural communities to modern learning tools and computer‑based testing systems.”
‎

‎He further praised Mayor Oforbuike for aligning his educational interventions with the state government’s digital education agenda and urged other well‑meaning individuals and philanthropists to support the advancement of education through the Public‑Private‑Community Partnership initiative.
‎

‎In his remarks, the host Councillor, Hon. Nnamdi Aguncha, said the project arose from Mayor Oforbuike’s passion for education and concern over the poor academic performance of students in the community, particularly in JAMB examinations. Hon. Aguncha explained that findings revealed many students struggled due to inadequate exposure to computer‑based testing and low computer literacy, prompting the decision to establish the e‑library.
‎

‎Speaking at the event, the benefactor, Mayor Chibueze Oforbuike, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for attending and described it as historic, noting that it was Ogugua’s first official engagement since assuming office.
‎
‎Mayor Oforbuike stated that education remains a vital tool for societal transformation and stressed that investments in learning and human capital development could never be excessive. He noted that the project site was carefully chosen because the area hosts five schools, adding that the e‑library would serve as a productive learning centre for students, especially during the holidays.
‎

‎He also pointed out that the project, aimed at reviving the culture of library use and reading among young people, while urging members of the community to protect the facility from vandalism and ensure the proper maintenance of the library environment.
