Dr. John Metchie, President General of Umueri Okebo and a prominent Anambra businessman, has
announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives seat representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in 2027.
Metchie made this declaration at his hometown, Umueri, citing the need for improved representation and federal presence in the area as driving factors behind his decision.
According to Metchie, consultations with residents revealed widespread dissatisfaction with the current leadership, prompting him to step forward.
He pledged to leverage his community efforts in security, education, and healthcare to attract development and federal projects to the constituency. Notably, Metchie established a joint security base in Omambala region and supports local initiatives, demonstrating his commitment to the area’s progress.
He aligned his vision with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) model, expressing confidence that it can drive grassroots development.
He urged constituents to support his ambition, promising people-focused leadership and effective representation.
Metchie’s candidacy is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the constituency’s development.
