The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has celebrated the 35th anniversary of the creation of Anambra State, commending successive administrations and Ndi Anambra for their contributions to the state’s growth and development.
In a goodwill message to the government and people of the state, Udeze described Anambra as a significant part of Nigeria’s history and development, attributing its progress over the past 35 years to the ingenuity, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of its people, alongside the contributions of successive governments.
He paid tribute to the founding fathers of Anambra State, whose determination and sacrifice contributed to the creation of the state, noting that their vision remains a source of inspiration for present and future generations.
The speaker acknowledged the developmental initiatives of the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, expressing optimism that ongoing projects and programmes would further strengthen Anambra’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading states, enhancing its prospects for greater development.
Udeze highlighted the contributions of prominent Anambra indigenes to Nigeria’s political, economic and social development, recalling the legacies of Nigeria’s first President, the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe; former Vice President, the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme; and foremost industrialist, the late Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, among other illustrious sons and daughters of the state.
According to him, the achievements of these personalities reflect the state’s longstanding tradition of excellence, enterprise and service to the nation.
He called on Ndi Anambra at home and abroad to continue supporting initiatives that promote peace, unity and sustainable development, stressing that the collective responsibility of citizens remained vital to the state’s continued progress.
The speaker assured Ndi Anambra that the State House of Assembly, under his leadership, would continue to support people oriented legislation and resolutions aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and advancing development across the state.
As Anambra marks 35 years, Udeze urged citizens to protect the state’s reputation, promote its values and look to the future with renewed hope and determination.
He wished the government and people of Anambra continued peace, prosperity and progress, noting that the anniversary provided an opportunity to celebrate the journey so far while setting new goals for the years ahead.
