‎Information Officers serving in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State have paid a courtesy visit to the newly elected Council Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Ezeagu, to congratulate him on his electoral victory and pledge their support for his administration.
‎
‎The visit, which took place on October 14, at the chairman’s office, provided an opportunity for the officers to formally congratulate him and establish a cordial working relationship with the new administration. Hon. Ezeagu warmly received the delegation and introduced them to his Deputy, Hon. Florence Ezekiel, and the Council Secretary, who were present during the meeting.
‎
‎Addressing the Information Officers, Hon. Ezeagu urged them to embrace unity, mutual support and teamwork in the discharge of their official responsibilities. He emphasised the importance of cooperation and encouraged them to uphold the principle of being their brothers’ keepers.
‎
‎The chairman also advised the officers to exercise professionalism and discretion in their reporting, cautioning them against publishing stories capable of tarnishing the image of Anambra State. He urged them to channel such matters through the appropriate authorities before taking them to the public domain.
‎
‎Hon. Ezeagu commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his administration’s developmental strides, noting that its achievements had positioned Anambra as a state admired by others. He maintained that those opposing the Governor’s efforts would not succeed in undermining his commitment to the state’s development.
‎
‎The chairman equally acknowledged the contributions of his immediate predecessor to the development of Aguata Local Government Area. He recalled that the area previously faced challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, overgrown bushes in several locations and a lack of direction among some youths. He commended the former chairman for his developmental initiatives, which he said restored hope and demonstrated that positive change was achievable.
‎
‎Hon. Ezeagu expressed appreciation to the Information Officers for the visit and assured them of his willingness to maintain a cordial and productive relationship with them. He pledged to work with the officers in good faith to advance the interests of Aguata and support the effective dissemination of information about the council’s activities.
‎
‎Responding on behalf of the delegation, one of the Information Officers in the local government, Chief David Okpala, thanked the chairman for his warm reception and the opportunity to interact with him. He encouraged Hon. Ezeagu to build on the achievements of his predecessor and assured him of the people’s support as he begins his administration.
