The Executives of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Anambra State Branch, paid a courtesy call on the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Tobechukwu Nweke, at his chambers in Awka to formally welcome him to the Ministry and strengthen collaborative relations with its leadership.
State President of LOAN, Barrister Jerry Emebie, said such visits are customary for newly appointed Attorneys General and also served to apprise him of the association’s activities. He commended the remarkable transformation under Nweke’s stewardship, noting tangible improvements and that the Attorney General had “hit the ground running,” while affirming LOAN’s commitment to building a more robust ministry.
Barri. Emerie added that LOAN exists to advance members’ welfare and contribute to the ministry’s success, emphasizing that law officers in the state continue to discharge their duties creditably, especially in case prosecution.
LOAN Secretary, Barrister Nonso Emeka, underscored members’ dedication, citing instances where state counsel personally bear appellate litigation costs, and affirmed that the ministry is staffed by highly qualified personnel.
Barri. Emeka informed the Attorney General of planned activities, including the May Day celebration at Ekwueme Square and a proposed Law Dinner Night, requesting the ministry’s support and guidance. He assured the Attorney General of the association’s loyalty and readiness to collaborate to further the administration of justice in the state.
In his response, the Attorney General, Barri. Tobechukwu Nweke expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged LOAN’s role in strengthening the ministry. He pledged support to the executives, particularly for their May Day participation, and reiterated his commitment to staff welfare and motivation. He stressed that collaboration and a motivated workforce are essential to achieving efficiency and excellence in the justice sector.
