The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority has launched mandatory evening enforcement exercises to strengthen environmental compliance and improve order across the capital.

The first operation took place Thursday evening (June 11, 2026) across major junctions: Aroma, Regina Caeli, Temp Site, and Kwata Junction.

Speaking during the exercise, Jude Nworah, who led the operation said regular enforcement is critical to ensuring residents and businesses obey environmental and urban development laws.

According to him, the night patrols are part of ACTDA’s strategy to maintain a cleaner, safer, and better organized capital under the State’ urban renewal agenda.

Nworah confirmed that evening exercises will continue as a standard monitoring tool to keep the city in check and added that the evening exercises will target activities that violate the city’s environmental, aesthetic, and developmental standards.

The initiative follows directives from ACTDA Managing Director, Dr. Ossy Onuko, and reinforces the Authority’s commitment to operational efficiency, strict regulation enforcement, and the vision of a modern, well-regulated Awka Capital Territory.

ACTDA says the night enforcement will complement ongoing efforts to promote sustainability, public safety, and orderly urban growth across the capital territory.
