The Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has commended the zeal of 100 young women from the 21 Local Government Areas (LGA) of the state who are participating in the first batch of the ‘Anambra Skilled Ladies Training Programme’.
The training which is a vocational initiative designed to equip women across the state with skills in traditionally male-dominated professions was inaugurated by the wife of the governor about five weeks ago and covers repairs of air conditioners and telephones, servicing of tricycles, automobiles mechanic and other areas is being sponsored by the state government.
The programme, championed through Mrs. Soludo’s ‘Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative,’ is designed to break professional stereotypes and provide women with high-demand technical skills for economic empowerment.
In a press statement she released on Saturday, the governor’s wife noted that the five-week intensive practical classes for the young women have empowered them through a well-structured entrepreneurial package offering them the opportunity to learn and prosper through lucrative technical skills.
Mrs. Soludo said she was satisfied with the progress being made by the women.
“This training will assist women to acquire skills that will aid them to support their families economically and contribute more to the development of the state.
“I commend the passion and dedication being exhibited by the women in this training and I hope that they will graduate with skills and experience that will permanently transform their lives.”
